October 8, 2022

  • 8:30am-11:00am Rehearsal at GV
  • 11:00 am – 11:50 am Lunch (bring your own)/Change into Uniform
  • 11:50 am Inspection
  • 12:00 pm Depart for Douglas County High School
  • 12:45 pm Arrive and unload
  • 1:15 pm Warm-up time (Body and Music are combined-area D)
  • 2:30 pm Prelims Performance Time
  • 3:00 pm-3:45 pm Watch other bands perform
  • 4:00 pm Retreat/awards (Drum Majors Only)
  • 4:15 pm Return to Busses to eat dinner (provided)
  • 5:45 pm Finals begin!! Our performance time depends on Prelims placement.
  • 9:15 pm Retreat/Awards (Drum Majors Only)
  • 9:45 pm Return to CCHS (we should be back by 10:30 pm)

 

**BE SURE TO EAT BREAKFAST BEFORE YOU COME TO CCHS IN THE MORNING. WE WON’T PROVIDE ANY FOOD UNTIL DINNER.

Bring snacks/money for concessions if you think you’ll need more food than we provide.

**EVERYONE NEEDS TO WEAR THIS YEAR’S BAND SHIRT UNDER THEIR UNIFORM.

IMPORTANT Parking Information from the DCMI Coordinators

 We are looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday, October 8th.  We have parking planned for all equipment and food vehicles in our South Parking lot. The buses will park on Scott Blvd. We have spectator parking planned for our north parking lot, but it does fill up as prelims go on. There is public parking in local neighborhoods. Oakwood Drive and Canyon Drive are two nearby streets that have public parking. 

 We must ask that no visiting band vehicles or families park in the LDS church on Oakwood street. I have contacted the church, and they have church services on Saturday, October 8th. We want to maintain friendly working relationships with our community.

Football & Fall Break—Schedule

Football Game:  Friday, October 14th, is a football game performance plus the 8th Grade Chili Night. Our annual 8th grade chili night is an opportunity for our middle-school students to come and sit among the marching band members and enjoy the band experience and hopefully recruit them!

Fall Break Rehearsal:  Wednesday, October 19th, from 12 pm until 5 pm at Stutler Bowl

Fall Break Rehearsal & State Qualifiers:  Thursday, October 20th-call @ 12:30 pm at Stutler Bowl

Parent Volunteer Opportunities—DCMI Festival

We are still looking for parent volunteers for Plumes, Pit, and Props

Competition Food —DCMI Festival

Wow! The way everyone worked together last Saturday was truly inspiring. Thank you!

For DCMI, the trumpet section is tagged to help out with dinner. Low key and quick sandwiches from Costco, fruits, chips, and of course, a baked with love dessert are what we are feeding the band (and volunteers).

Dietary alternatives will also be available.

I’ll gather donations from 8-9 on Saturday morning in the Fine Arts parking lot. Thanks again!

Competition Baking Committee — DCMI Festival

I will be out of town for DCMI- if anyone can help with Baking Committee Duties on Saturday, I would greatly appreciate it!

Included duties;

  • Collect baked goods Saturday morning at Creek
  • Transport baked goods to DCMI
  • Pass out Baked goods during CCHS dinner time

Butter Braids & Premium Coffee—Student-Specific Fundraiser

Selling Butter Braids, Cookie Dough, Coda Coffee AND new this season, Premium Coffee, raises funds that go directly into your student’s account to help fund marching band expenses. This year we are Butter Braids, Yumbana Gluten-Free cookie dough flavors, and the award-winning Coda Coffee. Each Butter Braid product sells for $13.00-$14.00; Gluten-Free Cookie Dough sells for $13.00, and Coda coffee for $16. For every product sold, 40% of the sale goes to that student’s account.

Due to the timing, credits from Butter Braid sales cannot be used for the November 2022 CCHS Marching Band Hollywood Trip.

Timeline:  

October 5th:   Fundraisers kick off with free samples for students, and the online order store goes live. Look for the Online Store link coming to the parent emails before October 5th. You can share this link with friends and family, tell them to find your student’s name, and place all orders through the Online store. Online Orders require credit card payments to be submitted.

October 23rd:  BUTTER BRAID Orders, paid & submitted online DUE.

October 27th:  After practice, Butter Braids, Yumbana GF Cookie Dough & Coda Coffee, and Premium Coffee will be ready for pick up by students.

8th Grade Chili Night—Friday, 10/14/2022 @ 4:30 pm

Our annual 8th grade chili night is October 14, 2022. It is an opportunity for our middle-school students to come and sit among the marching band members and enjoy the band experience and Hopefully recruit them! However, to make it successful, we need your assistance. Please review the sign-up below for where we need help.

This dinner is only for current and prospective band students and volunteers.
