Hello Band Families,

Last week we had thunder and lightning delays and this week we had a tornado warning . . . WOW! THANK YOU to those of you who stuck it out and helped with the 8th Grade Chili night. Thank you for your donations from corn bread to sour cream to paper plates and bowls. Each was appreciated and needed. Thank you to those who set up, served & cleaned up as well as the faithful water crew and seat cover volunteers. Bellies were filled and we had a very happy group of 8th graders and our marching band as they headed to Stutler Bowl for the football game.

I would also like to shout out to the pit crew who help move the instruments that can not be carried! Thank you! After all the fun and excitement of Friday we had a group of people come to the Roark’s home and help build and paint props for the show. They are looking GREAT and we all thank you!

Speaking of props . . . we need someone with a truck (F 150 or larger) to help transport props to and from the competitions. You will gain free entry into the comp as well as help the marching band tremendously. This does not have to be an every competition commitment if you are not able to be at every one. Maybe there is more than one or two families with a truck that could help us out and it can be rotated or even just a one time deal.

Attention Color Guard and Pit Families

You may have read in one of the recent Band Sunday email blasts, that we are not asking your two sections to provide food for any of our competitions this year. We know that you are plenty busy on those days!!

In place of that, we would like your help with stocking our supply of water bottles. These are used throughout the season for meals as well as on the bus on competition days. We are asking that each family donates either 2 cases (35 or 40 bottles) of water or $10. If you have already given to this, THANK YOU…disregard the rest of this!!

To make this as easy as possible, we are making next Saturday, Sept 14th a collection day. The band has practice at CCHS from 9-12 that morning. From 8:45 – 10:00 am that day, there will be food committee members on hand to take your cases of water (or money) right at the curb in front of the Fine Arts Building. You do not have to haul them all the way to the band closet! If your student would rather give money to their section leader, we can collect it that way as well.
